With the help of a little research, you can be able to save money on your auto insurance coverage. You have to understand first the requirements for your auto insurance and know the available discounts. In the state of Delaware, it is required for a driver to get at least $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident for bodily injury and $10,000 for property damage. Delaware also uses a Tort system that requires the at-fault driver to pay the damages for all the people involved. You also need to get personal injury protection or PIP coverage of $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident.

To get all the savings that you can on your auto insurance, you should get all the discounts you qualify for. These include:

Good Student
If you have a GPA of 3.0 or better in school, you can qualify to get this discount with the auto insurance companies that offer it.

Defensive Driver
If you have finished a defensive driving course, you can qualify for this type of auto insurance discount.

Safety Devices
If you install safety devices in your vehicle, you will be considered less of a risk by auto insurance companies and you may be offered a discount on your auto insurance for it.

Do You Need Underinsured Motorist Auto Insurance?

Published by author on May 28th, 2009 - in Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist

Reader’s Question:

I’m new here in Connecticut and I have to get auto insurance ASAP and I just have a question about it. Is uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage required in this state or can you do without it? I just feel that it’s very important for every driver to have it and some other types of optional coverage so I think I’ll get it even if it will not be required.  I really need auto insurance at a very affordable price right now, please give me some pointers.

Several auto insurance carriers in Connecticut are battling against one another to provide the most competitive prices for your auto insurance. You could collect different quotes from several auto insurance carriers with the assistance of their agents and brokers and then select the most appropriate auto insurence for your automobile. For your auto liability coverage, you need to get $20,000 for one individual and $40,000 for all individuals for bodily injuries in one accident and $10,000 for property damage. You may opt to get higher auto insurance coverage to get the best protection for you and your vehicle.

In the state of Connecticut, it is required that you get uninsured and underinsured auto insurance coverage to protect you and the passengers in your vehicle in the event of an accident with someone who doesn’t have auto insurance or someone who doesn’t have enough coverage. The minimum coverage that you can get is $20,000 for one individual and $40,000 for all individuals in an accident. In the event that the auto insurance coverage of the at-fault driver is not enough, you could get your medical and other costs through underinsured motorist coverage.

Though not required, the other types of coverage that you can get for your auto insurance include collision, comprehensive, towing, rental charges, medical payments, etc.

Need a Cheap Car Insurance Company

Published by author on May 19th, 2009 - in Need auto insurance

Reader’s Question:

They said car insurance rate is getting lower over the years, well I dont think so. I think I am paying more for my insurance. You see, I do not have a job right now but I definitely need a car. So, where can I get this cheap car insurance company?

It has been said that car insurance rates in the US have dropped in the past few years. But in reality, auto owners are still paying $300 or more on their monthly premiums. With the current economy US is having, many citizens are on a tight budget. With that said, everyone is finding a way to ease the financial burden and one way to save money is through vehicle insurance.

If you want to save on car insurance, you need to shop around. The internet is a perfect place to find the best vehicle insurance rate. There are lots of car insurance website who will be happy to offer a quote for free. This can be an advantage for every auto owner since premiums can differ by hundreds of dollars from company to company and of course, that’s for the same coverage. Aside from the truth that you are saving in terms of money, you can also save on time and energy since you don’t have to go out of your house and you can acquire quotes from a single provider in less than 5 minutes.

There are also car insurance comparison site that can give multiple insurance quotes from different cheap car insurance companies. This is a much faster way to gather quote but the only downside of this is, sometimes, the quotes that are shown is limited to five car insurance provider. Combining these two ways of acquiring quotes has a high success rate of finding the best rates so be sure you do both.

But it doesn’t just stop there, you might find the best rate but for security reasons you have to do background check on the cheap car insurance company that you might possibly choose. There’s a lot of scammer out there who sell auto insurance coverage that’s fake. There might also be a chance that they are legit but when it comes to filing claims, they will make you wait for months and you’ll end up clueless. It’s easy to tell if a car insurance carrier is capable of paying claims, visit your states insurance department and see if there are any complaints against them. You can also visit websites of various organizations that rates car insurence company by its performance and financial standing.
